Cristina from Spain
Sziasztok Hungary¡¡¡¡
My name is Cristina Rabasco and I'm a Spanish volunteer working with Compass Organization in Kaposvár.
I'm going to try to introduce a little about myself, because maybe somebody is interested on my life, or maybe not, but anyway, I going to do it.
I was born in a small town Alicante, the south-east part of Spain in Valencian Community, the name of my town is called Almoradí, and it's some kind of hot and tourist place almost all the year, some English and German communities have installed themselves to live there forever. But I spent the most of my time in Guardamar Del Segura when I am at home, and it is also visited for its beaches and have many discos and party places, where my parents have a small apartment. I was studying Criminology in the University of Murcia, so during the academic year I was living in a shared flat in this cute and small capital of province.
I started my international trip on my Erasmus Year on Thessaloniki (Greece) and after I started also my voluntary job in the summer camps on Greece like a Camp leader in the Greek island of Tylos, we were preventing the fire that isolated a big part of Peloponnese on the summer of 2007.
In Greece I met many people from every country, among them there were some EVS volunteers who spent with us a big part of their time. In the moment I met them my interest for this kind of program came to my mind. After I finished my degree on September of 2010 I come immediately to this central Europe country different from all I have ever seen before.
I liked Hungary because of my Hungarians friends on my Erasmus, who right now are also exploring the world and one of them is living in Budapest, the most amazing capital city I have seen in a lot of time. Now that I live here, I realized that it is not easy to be involved in a Hungarian circle of friends, the language is a big obstacle which separated foreigners and natives, but step by step and with much patience I realized that you can build some friendship that maybe will last forever.
I have never seen as much snow as here and I have never felt as colder as here, but right now I think I'm ready to survive to everything. I was on the habitude not to go to school when it was raining on my town, even they closed it...it was some kind of strange phenomenon that occur rarely four times per year. Now, I can climb a whole mountain of snow, and make snow fights like a real professional.
Actually, even if I don't realize right now I think I'm learning a lot for all the things I'm doing on my Evs, even if I have some moments of crisis or homesick, at least I know what I don't want on my future, and I'm deciding what I want. For sure, I' ll continue my international trip for some years, with some pauses on my country, to continue my studies to become a international civil servant, maybe like a prison civil servant. I really would like to work with people who don't have many opportunities or the life has battered them.
About me, I can not say so much, but I invited everybody to know me or ask me any question whenever you want, also I can say that the most annoying characteristic I have is my stubborn mind¡¡
