Youth exchange in Istanbul (September 4-10 '11)

The Youth Exchange project “Folk Heroes” aims that participants from different countries get to better know each other’s cultural values, sociological circumstances and historical transitions and that participants socialize within different cultures discover and recognize other countries’ cultures through their “folk heroes”.

The main objective of the project is to eliminate prejudices towards different cultures and intensify intercultural dialogue by emphasizing similarities between and particularities of different cultures by taking into account “folk heroes”, which are one of the important elements that are formed by their societies and reflect socio-cultural characters of societies.
Project partner countries are selected as Bulgaria, Malta, Hungary because Turkey and these European countries share many cultural legacies and values despite their differences.

In the project, participants will engage in many influent activities such as presentations about the folk heroes, drama shows, simulations and creative contests.
The sustainability of this project will be obtained through project outcomes as “Folk Heroes Booklet”, videos and also through a functional website serving as a platform presenting folk heroes and bringing together interested youngsters. The project will take place in Istanbul, a cosmopolite city having combined different cultures under its unique
style.
