Nagybajom

by Luca Cravero

Saturday - October 8th, 2011 – 7:00 am – All started with the morning trumpets waking everybody up. Another thrilling mission was waiting for Compass and the troupe was ready to set off at 8:00am from Kaposvár; final destination: Nagybajom, a town located in the countryside to the west of Kaposvár. We would have arrived there at around 8:30pm and been warmly welcomed at the local Community Center belonging to the Csányi Foundation.

Rakes and Dustpans of Freedom

cleaning kaposvar

Saturday 16th, on early morning (10am on Saturday it's early morning), a brave team of Compass volunteers went to Arany tér to join some other citizens for the cleaning-day.After few moments of disorientation they took the instruments of the job (plastic gloves, deep bags, rakes and dustpans) and attacked the enemies.

There was no escape for little pieces of wood, misgrowed grass and for the worst of them: the rubbish.

A Compass Egyesület Önkéntese voltam

For the great pride of my parents in 2008 I completed the deparment of Youth worker at the University of Kaposvár, and I started the job hunting. I tired unsuccesfully for almost a year. In most of the cases I haven't even get to the interview. Usually the problem was, that I haven' t got any work experiance, and because of this they did not gave me big hopes not even at the unemplyment center.

At this time I found an intership programme, which gave me the opportunity to work at a youth organization. I was situated at an organization, which did not give me any opportunity to develop. I didn't feel that my work is useful. At one event I met with the leaders of Compass Organization, and I immadiatly decided to join them.

Önkénteseink a gátakon

In early June, 2010, our volunteers took part in the flood-control program. Little know, that Kapos, which normally can't be called a river, flooded the inside and outside areas of Kaposvár. Due to the hard work of the people in most of the areas the damages could be minimized, sadly there were areas were everithing was under water.

Our volunteers whom are university students in Budapest helped to combine against the flood at Római Part, and the Upper Tisza area.
