Introduction of Compass
Our organization's constitution states: We help in the integration of the Hungarian youngsters into the European Union's system, helping them to take an active part in their community's life, widening their possibilities to become a responsible citizen of the European Union.
Our members (besides some adult supporters) are high school and university students, whose purpose is to create a community, where they can spend their time with sport, culture, social work, so basicaly to spend their free time usefully. Our organization was operating as an informal group for two years; we became a registered organization in 2005. With help of sponsors we run a club room in Kaposvár (Arany János u. 21.), where we provide opportunity to free internet use, they can get information connected to youths, information about competitions and different opportunities. The clubhouse is operated by our youth members, who also arrange engagements s, these programmes are very colourful from the football to the “Ability day”. Our programs are becoming more and more popular among the youngsters from Kaposvar, just because they organized by youngsters too.
Our Organization’s past and forecoming activities:
- COMPASS ABILITY QUEST- Skills improving programme for 6-18 years old youths
- We hold informative sessions for high school students, where they are informed about the education, training, and working opportunities in the European Union
- We have a cooperating contract with the Labour Organization to widen the knowledge of the youths in Somogy County about the European Union. Together with the Labour Organization’s EURES expert we hold presentations in high schools about the training and working opportunities in the European Union. In the future we would like to make presentations among the high schools of the county in a more organized form. We have a programme called „KÉP” what help the young unemployed people to be more interesting in the labour market
- Active cooperation with the local associations of the disabled youngsters, the Association of the Disabled People of Somogy County, the Organization of the Blinds and Visually Damaged, and with the Equal Chance coordinating Office of Somogy County
- We make our youth club’s guide-lines more colourful with the “ROCK-KI-MIT-TUD” talent scouting programme. The band called ‘Boys on the docks’ were taken part in this at Balatonboglar.
- In 2006 we joined the EVS programme and becoming an accredited organization; currently we hold presentations with the Labour Organization of Kaposvar, hopefully these presentations will help the local unemployed entrants’ to a better life start
- We have sent three volunteers abroad: to Austria, Germany and Spain for a year
- Since April 2007 as a host organization we are hosting youths from the European Union. Volunteers help in the Compass Ability Quest and in our Informative Programme about the European Union. Currently we are hosting three volunteers for a year. ( France, Germany and Turkey)
- We arrange international youth exchange camps with several country’s participation. Compass Euroteam camp with 7 countries
- In 2007 May we participated in a Youth Exchange organised by Naturefreund Haus, a partner organisation, in Oberhof, Germany. The two week exchange processed of environmental protection through practical trainings
- We took part in a team-building project, together with 5 other organisation in Alessandria, Italy, in June 2007. Bulgaria, Estonia, Czech Republic, Italy and Hungary
- One of our members took part in a seminar about „the non-formal education inside formal education” in 2007 June, in Viimsi, Estonia
- We organise camps for youngsters, what mainly focuses on project preparation and project developing, in order if youngsters take part in a program, be prepar
- France cultural youth exchange- Metz, France, France game and environment youth exchange- Metz, France, Preparation meeting in France, Metz about graffit, France environmental project youth exchange- Marmande, France, SOHO European training course in Lithuania
- Continued working with the Compass Ability Quest in the local primary and high schools
- Prepared and organized language lessons for the students in the schools
- Compass International Youth Camp (EUROTEAM ART) in Kaposvár with 6 countries between 04-17 August 2008
- Organized multicultural programmes together with our volunteers
- Our French volunteer teached modern dance, salsa and other special choreographies to the youngsters
- We sent EVS volunteers to Lithuania, Finland, and another girl to France
- We become an EURODESK Partner
- Our organization has already moved to an other office, where we are doing do lots of different activities, organizing by our volunteers, educated specialist person (running a hostel for approx.organizing youth exchanges camps, voluntary work, Environmental Club, skills and competence developing: skill and competence developing, developing the skills what the EU needs for working. information of how people can work in the EU, what kind of competences do they need, employee policy and obligations, help the people who they can find a perfect job, giving them advices what they will need in a job interview, health and enlightnemen, language lessons in the schools,help the youngsters how they can spend their free time in a beneficial and useful way: ice rank, swimming pool, basket and volleyball matches, theatre, cinema, library, excursions etc.
